As of August 22, 2010 Egg Recalls in usa news updates that over a half billion eggs were recalled due to potential hazards of salmonella. Salmonella found in eggs were linked to an egg supplier that had prior health violations. Wright County Egg farm recalled several hundred million eggs around Friday The 13th 2010! I guess for egg eaters Friday 13th was unlucky. There were over a thousand cases of Salmonella Poisoning at that time.

One of the companies involved in past health code violations which also belonged to the same farm owner was Quality Egg. Quality Egg suppliers deals with supplying chickens and feed to Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms. Hillandale Farms recalled eggs about a week after the egg recalls came from the prior egg farm.Wright County Egg is owned by a man named Austin DeCoster *Austin Jack DeCoster became the first business man in Iowa to be known as a Habitual Violator of environmental laws in June of 2000. Austin DeCoster owns several farms that are more like confinement centers for animals & Austin DeCoster owns large lots of land with Hogs and Egg Plants in Iowa, Main and Ohio.

In June 2010 Maine Contract Farming *the successor company to DeCoster Egg Farms* was taken to court in Maine and fined 25,000.00 in penalties and forced to make a payment of 100,000.00 to the Department Of Agriculture in Maine for cruel acts of animal cruelty that were caught on a hidden camera by the Animal Welfare Organization. (In my opinion someone that is cruel to animals or beats animals and people is one of the lowest life forms! I often think to live with the animals and protect them from people would be a wonderful life.)

August 2003 DeCoster plead guilty to charges of federal immigration violations and paid 2,125,000 in a civil fine to the Bureau Of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

DeCoster also was charged with violations of immigrations laws when many illegal immigrants were found working on his farms in June 2006.

December 2006 Ohio Fresh Eggs had their operating permit revoked because they did not give the information that Austin DeCoster was involved in the daily operations at their Farm. In December 2006 a local newspaper in Des Moines Iowa known as the Des Moines Register reported news about the Ohio Egg Farm having lots their work permit or business permit for the farm.

September 2007 News from Cedar Rapids Gazette was printed telling about a raid on Austin DeCoster's egg plant farm in Wright County, Iowa. The news report said that 51 illegal immigrant workers were found working on the Farm for Mr. DeCoster. That farm in Iowa was the Wright County Egg Farm. *Cedar Rapids Gazette is a local newspaper in Iowa in case you did not know that part eh grin.* *The Associated Press mention the news article after the egg recalls in 2010 and stated that the raid took place on 6 of Wright County Egg Farms. Anyway that has not so much to do with the egg recalls of 2010.*

Unrelated to food but very related to the farms ran and owned by DeCoster is another news report that leaked is a bit more shocking. In 2003 DeCoster paid 1.5 Million Dollars in fines to the EEOC to resolve complaints of sexual harassment and rape taking place on his farms by some of the supervisors.
